What's new in eCognition 8.7
eCognition 8.7 features selective 3D, a revolutionary point cloud analysis functionality, advanced machine learning classification techniques and an overall improved rule set development environment.
eCognition 8.7 Highlights
Selective 3D
eCognition 8.7 introduces the concept of selective 3D: an innovative approach to combining 2D raster and vector data with statistical attributes derived directly from 3D point clouds. This is achieved by pinpointing the portions of a point cloud most relevant to the analysis and including just those portions within the processing. This offers the advantages inherent to 3D analysis without burdening CPUs with unutilized 3D datasets - a critical advantage for production image analysis.
- Combine 2D segments with 3D statistical attributes
- Derive information directly from the point cloud
- Load point clouds in *.las format
- Export classified point clouds in *.las format
- Directly combine raster imagery and point cloud information
- Integrate vector, raster and point cloud data
Machine Learning
Trimble’s eCognition 8.7 also incorporates state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to supplement its object classification rule set environment. Classification and Regression Tree (CART) and Support Vector Machines (SVM) enable sophisticated data patterns to be detected with greater autonomy than previously possible. These capabilities are particularly valuable for the analysis and understanding of complex ecosystems.
- Classification and regression tree (CART)
- Support Vector Machines (SVM)
- Bayes classifier
- Tackle complex problems
- Combine object based image analysis with CART technology
- Automatically generate decision tree rule sets
