Learning the Essentials
Your long term success using eCognition software starts here. We have made many options available to help you develop the essential skills, either using self-paced learning tools such as Guided Tours, eSeminars or as instructor-led courses.
Guided Tours
Guided tours are hands-on instructional documents designed for use together with eCognition Developer. Step-by-step instructions guide the user through the creation of a specific image analysis solution ruleset. The manual scan be downloaded free of charge, together with the related image data. If you do not have an eCognition software license, simply download the Quickstart package.
Guided Tour1: Getting started - Example: Simple building extraction
The Guided Tour1 is designed to learn the first steps in the software and the “object-oriented way of thinking”. The user will create a basic building extraction by segmenting and classifying airborne RGB and LiDAR data. [read more]
Instructor-led courses
Essentials Training
The Essentials Training provides an ideal start for those new to eCognition Developer. Upon completion, the trainee will be able to set up a basic image analysis workflow and will understand the steps required to develop solutions using their own data. [read more]

This intense 3 days course is a hybrid between Essentials, Rule Set and What’s new course. It covers advanced classification techniques, advanced object creation and reshaping, seed-growing approaches to enhance Rule Set transferability and gives detailed insight into the new concepts of maps and regions to enhance performance improvement and local evaluation of image statistics for classification. Training Formats
In-company Training:This course is delivered either as an in-company training, which is a cost effective option where up to ten staff have the same or similar training need.
Open Training:Participate in an open training and learn from an experienced trainer using hands-on exercises. Class schedule see in the Training calendar below.
