Centers of Excellence

  • The Spatial Analysis Laboratory (SAL) is a research facility located in the Rubenstein School of Environment & Natural Resources at the University of Vermont (UVM).  The mission of the SAL is to apply appropriate techniques in GIS, remote sensing, and spatial statistics to problems in natural resource ecology and natural resources planning. The SAL specializes in urban ecosystem assessment, defense applications, biodiversity analysis, land-cover mapping, planning for conservation lands, and development of new applications for natural resource management.  SAL personnel oversee the university’s ESRI Development Center (EDC), America View program, and Definiens Center of Excellence.
