3D LiDAR Point Cloud Analysis
eCognition 8 comes with all functionality to analyze 3D data. As a first topic for our eCognition labs we picked 3D point cloud analysis. To perform 3D analysis on point clouds you need to download the 3D Lidar driver and have a small *.las file available. To get started it is best work on the sample data provided here. See the wiki entry on how to load 3D LiDAR data.
The 3D *.las driver is still a prototype and we are experiencing memory handling issues. Therefore it only works with very small datasets. Nonetheless you can get a first feeling for how 3D OBIA works.
